IIFA 2015 wasn’t as much as about winning awards as it was about getting your fashion quotient spot on and upping the fashion scene on the green carpet. And the women of Bollywood showed the world how they could carry the gown on their generous silhouettes. Except for Deepika Padukone who wore a sari by Sabyasachi, Bollywood went gaga over gowns this year at the awards in Malaysia.

Most played it safe and stuck with straight colour palettes — black, red, or white.Remember Kim Kardashian and her naked dress from the MET gala? Sonakshi Sinha gave us the next best thing, in a sheer, embroidered Monisha Jaising. Neha Dhupia and Aditi Rao Hydari, known for their quirky sartorial sense lived up to their name, thank god! Neha Dhupia championed P.E.L.L.A, a young Bangalore-based label, with a rather unusual white silken cocoon dress.

Aditi Rao Hydari brought crop tops to the green carpet in Sabyasachi by Sabyasachi. Many chose to go with the evergreen fishtail gown to flatter the curves. Parineeti Chopra and Lauren Gottlieb’s gowns had long trains, true red-carpet style. The hot fav go-to designers for our Bollywood beauties seemed to be Anamika Khanna, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Georges Chakra – a new red-carpet favourite.

We saw the Lebanese label on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Cannes not so long ago. And we saw his work again – twice – on the same “green” carpet at IIFA, with Kriti Sanon choosing an intricate lace number in white and Parineeti Chopra favouring a black fishtail gown with plenty of surface textures. The designer has dressed the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Helen Mirren in the past. Even Malaika Arora Khan and Shraddha Kapoor showed the label some love at IIFA Rocks.

On the big day Shraddha Kapoor wore Mason by Michelle Mason, Malaika Arora Khan wore a stunning massive white flouncy gown by Ashi Studio, Lisa Haydon’s curvy-peepy white was by Gaurav Gupta, Jacqueline Fernandez wore Anamika Khanna. Anushka Sharma wore a red hot Gauri and Nainika. Priyanka Chopra wore a lovely pink by Jenny Packham to the premiere of Dil Dhadakne Do.

Take a good long look at who wore what at IIFA 2015!
