Full, juicy and wonderfully plummy. This particular perception of lips seems to be steadily gaining popularity. From YouTube gurus to magazine articles, everybody wants to help you imitate the infamous Kylie Jenner pout. Though the revelation that she uses MAC’s Soar Lip Liner to make her lips look their pouty best has resulted in the product being sold out pretty much everywhere globally, it’s still not that difficult to achieve something similar, if not exactly the same.

You may love her, you may hate her, but you cannot deny that girl’s ability to enhance those features to the maximum; so here are a few ways you can do the same.

That perfect plum

Kylie’s lip is a mix between a pink, a plum and a brown; when you think of that, it’s easy enough to mix, but it is probably just easier to find a plum that suits you. A little tip – use your natural lip colour as a guide – if you have more pink in your lips, chances are a pinky plum would be more harmonious with your colouring, or if your lips are more on the brown side, choose a brown-based plum.

If you can’t figure it out, worry not. The plum lip always manages to suit Indian skin and looks lovely; so don’t sweat, it will work.

Lip liner

Before you roll your eyes at the thought of something so obvious, hear me out.

While lip liners work wonderfully underneath the lipstick to prolong longevity, they also help make your lips look picture perfect. But here’s a little tip: Once you’ve lined your lips and added your lipstick, go over your lip line and lipstick once again with your lip liner; not only does it make your lip line look extra crisp, it adds a little more of a pout.

Overdrawing your lips ever so slightly also helps give the illusion of bigger and fuller lips.

Matte, matte and more matte

Since Kylie focuses on matte, you can do a few things to make even that creamy lipstick look matte. For starters, blot your lips with a tissue, reapply and repeat. You could also dust some translucent powder over a tissue to mattify further.

In case you hate matte

And last of all, for those of you who love the idea but can’t stand the texture of matte, apply a little clear gloss at the very centre of your lips to accentuate that illusion of bigger lips.
