Producer Viki Rajani of Next Gen Films is happy with the initial response his upcoming film R…Rajkumar ( Rambo Rajkumar ) is getting. “Shahid Kapoor has never been seen in an action avatar before. If there are any sceptics who feel that Shahid cannot carry off an action role, they are in for a surprise on December 6,” he says confidently, when asked how the public was reacting to Shahid as an action star. “Prabhu Deva is a very talented man, and we have the best of everything in the film.” Next Gen has collaborated with Eros International to co-produce the film that also stars Sonakshi Sinha.

Viki is also gearing up for two more important films. One is a political thriller titled 10 Janpath and has Amit Sadh of Kai Po Che fame playing the lead. The film is expected to reflect the current issues of the country. “I am very eager to begin this one as it once again brings together my Table No 21 team — director Aditya Datt, Eros and Paresh Rawal. It has a strong social theme, just like Table No 21 had,” says the producer. 10 Janpath will be mainly shot in Delhi and will go on floors this winter.

Besides, Viki is bringing national award-winning director Rahul Dholakia ( Parzania , Lamhaa ) to the genre of his first film Kehtaa Hai Dil Baar Baar (2002). Rahul, who won the national award for his heart-rending depiction of a Muslim family caught in the Gujarat riots ( Parzania , 2005), will helm a romantic film under Next Gen Films. “Rahul’s movie is a very big project for us. We are looking at roping in A-list actors for this one,” says Viki.

The producer adds that he intends to make entertaining films with a message. “Just like Table No 21 was, I’d like to continue making films that entertain and carry an underlying message.”
