A freshly-squeezed watermelon makes its way into a sleek glass of cocktail, while food carts offer New York-inspired street food — the fifth edition of Funky Fish pop-up has a lot more than just clothes.
Sip on a cocktail, snack on some bite-sized delights and indulge in an afternoon of fashion and shopping. Sounds like a good way to spend the weekend? Funky Fish’s upcoming pop-up event lets you do just that. Titled ‘All Walks Beyond the Catwalk’, the fifth edition of this pop-up has delightful collections from around 30 designers from all over the country. There’s the latest from the season, stylish silhouettes, a palette of rich hues, shoes, bags, jewellery and home décor.
A penchant for shopping and similar taste in fashion brought together Pavithra Sagar and Nikita Bajaj, who started Funky Fish last year, with the first pop-up taking place in April. The idea was to bring in styles that were unavailable here. “We used to travel a lot and shop to bring back such styles to the country. Ultimately, we ended up shopping more for us. We then thought why not start a pop-up and promote Indian designers,” says Pavithra.
Eighteen designers, including Yogesh Chaudhary, Ezra, Saachi, Milk Design Shop, Pipa Bella and Raj Shroff, will be present at the venue, interacting with clients and guiding them on sizing. The pricing starts at Rs. 1,000. “People want value for money. We try to keep the price range within Rs. 25,000,” says Pavithra, who is pleased with the way the venture has shaped up. Designers now create special lines for Funky Fish. While curating, Pavithra and Nikita make sure that there are clothes for every body type. This time, there are a lot of anti-fits, Boho trend dresses and jewellery, saris, outfits in silk with hand painted designs…
Over the years, the fashion fiesta has gained a carnival feel with a DJ playing a mix of tunes, a farm-to-fresh cocktail counter, and food carts. The menu has porcini and truffle essence orzotto, coronation chicken parma, brie, tomato, rocket on ciabatta, hoppers with red Thai chicken curry or vegetable green curry… And if you’re not swayed by these, there’s always the classic mac n cheese in a Parmesan cup.
