Apple introduces gender-diverse emoji

Among the many changes in the upcoming iOS 10, which include an expanded feature set for Siri and updates to iMessage, Apple has announced that it is releasing over 100 new emoji. The new pack looks to better represent a culturally diverse community, with many depicting women in sports, a water gun and a rainbow flag. iOS 10 is set to debut in the upcoming iPhone 7, expected to release in September.

Lenovo K5 Note launched

Lenovo has launched the Vibe K5 Note smartphone in India at Rs.11,999 for the 3 GB variant and Rs.13,999 for the 4 GB model. The phone, which also packs a fingerprint scanner and Dolby Atmos audio, is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 processor and has a heft 3,500 mAh battery.

Lenovo has equipped the India models with better specs than its Chinese counterpart, with the Chinese versions only getting 2 GB of RAM and Android 5.1 while the Indian model gets Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

LeEco and Coolpad joint smartphone to be called Cool 1

After launching the Le 2 and Le Max 2, Chinese manufacturer and entertainment company LeEco has tied up with Coolpad to launch a high-end smartphone. The smartphone, dubbed Cool 1, is rumoured to come with 5.5-inch QHD screen, Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB of RAM.

The joint venture is one of many recent moves by LeEco, which is a shareholder in Coolpad. The company recently bought American television manufacturer Vizio and also has partnerships with Faraday Future for its LeSee concept autonomous car.

Android 7.0 Nougat expected this month

The latest update for Android, which will be termed 7.0 and is officially named Nougat, is expected to launch this month. The update is set to bring better notification and RAM management, as well as native-split screen multi-tasking, a feature which manufacturers like Samsung have implemented on their own skins for years. Nexus devices are also touted to get a new launcher, as per a recent leak. The information and images, which were obtained by Android Police, suggests that the home screen will feature a permanent calendar widget, and the app drawer button will be replaced by a swipe-up gesture to access all apps.
