I love the monsoon. But I appreciate the gloomy weather much more when I am staying in rather than going out.
My children, on the other hand, would tell you the only way to enjoy the weather is by being outside, soaking it all in.
I prefer cosying up on my window space or my couch with a book and some hot chocolate. Or, simply baking my favourite lemon pie or trying out a recipe from my mother’s cookbook that I’ve been trying to perfect for a while now.
Warmth means different things to different people and it’s important to create your own centre of warmth in your home. Take this weather as an excuse to create it.
Get your family together and spend some time rearranging and organising old photographs into albums and photo frames. It’s a great way to relive your most cherished memories together and have fun while at it.
Treat yourself to a bubble bath or a day at the spa with candles and your favourite jazz album.
Replace the old flowers with an array of fresh plants and turn it into your new ‘green corner’ (aloe vera is a great choice for the weather).
Get your kids together and paint that faded wall you’ve been meaning to all summer… go for a warm bright colour. My favourite is orange or tangerine. At the very least, you’ll get some laughs and a lifetime of goofy stories to tell (at the cost of an oddly painted wall).
I’ve always believed that you can’t control the world outside, but you can create a world of your own in your own home. So go ahead, create your own centre of warmth.
It’s the best way to romance the weather.
