“Eating healthy and eating consciously is my fitness mantra,” affirms Simple Kaul, the Indian television actor who is distinctively known for her role as Parminder Sohni alias Pam in an Indian fantasy sitcom, Shararat .
Simple, in the pink of health, believes in the concept of working out as well as eating right. “I walk everyday, I do yoga everyday. Avoiding carbohydrates in my diet, I eat home cooked food at regular intervals.”
With two shows running on television, Jeannie Aur Juju on SAB TV and Oye Jassie on Disney channel, Simple says, “When I shoot for two serials at once, I get no time for workout, but I do make sure that I sleep early. I’ve realised that the metabolism becomes faster if you eat early, sleep early and get up early. That’s the way it should be. It’s the healthiest way to live.”
Apart from being an actor, Simple is also a trained classical singer. Learning classical music requires discipline and so does fitness, the artist finds a connection between the two and says, “I think when you have a passion for something you automatically become disciplined by devoting yourself completely to that art, it is natural. Classical music has helped me in becoming disciplined and strong willed. If I know I have to act and look good, I work out a lot. Right now I think I have put on weight, so I know that I have to work out even harder. I know I have to push myself to get up early to hit the gym or do yoga.”
The diverse roles Simple has played on screen have helped her in maintaining her fitness and have a bearing on her regimen. “I have to get into clothes, I have to look good. I have never done a sari show, so when you wear short clothes you tend to look fatter on screen. There is always that pressure to work out. If I would have been wearing suits and all, I would have become a little more complacent. It has always helped to keep a check on my fitness”.
