Last week my wife was complaining about how bored she was of the gym and her fitness regime. She whined incessantly about how bad she wanted to give it a pass. Only to conclude that she must wake up early the next morning to follow the drill. Oh!
It was then that I thought how I could be of help to her. I chanced upon an invite for an event. Fortunately, there I got the opportunity to chat with Mugdha Godse, the Bollywood actor who, apart from her roles in films like Fashion and All the Best: Fun Begins, is famous for her incredibly fit body. Well, I was steadfast with my questions on fitness. And she was of a great help. Her answers were spot on and would be of help to those who lack motivation to stay fit.
The model-turned-actor feels that staying motivated should be made a habit rather than seeking motivation from external sources. Early in her career, she was employed in a gym. And, thus she is passionate about working out and staying fit. “I have been working out since the age of 17. Since I was employed at a gym, I know the basic nuances of exercise and dieting. Dieting and working out have become my lifestyle. Of course, there are days when I binge, eating pastries and other treats as I am sure nobody can live without them.”
But Mughda makes sure that she knows how much calories she consumes while she is eating heavy duty stuff. “Putting on weight is very easy, but losing it is very difficult – a real nightmare.” Mugdha’s daily schedule is interesting for beginners in the gym. “I work out 4-5 times a week, alternating between three days of weight training and three days of cardio at the gym. While working out is extremely important, one also needs to keep the workout regime from becoming boring by combining various forms of exercises. For instance, I combine working out at the gym with yoga and a bit of kickboxing. I also love swimming and make sure I do it three to four times a week. It is a great exercise for your arms, knees and joints.”
Mugdha signs off with an appropriate and relevant message. “For the young people I will say eat healthy and always take care of your health. Never skip your meal. Fitness is a way of life. I am completely in love with my body which makes it most natural for me to look fit and healthy. I don’t need to make time for my fitness regime.
To me, working out is as natural as brushing my teeth first thing in the morning," she addes.
