A lot of hard work goes into that perfect body we all so admire. Bruna Abdullah, an actor of Arab-Brazilian descent, says she invests a lot of time and effort in maintaining her well-toned physique. But Bruna is not much of a gym lover. An outdoors girl, she’s been practising pilates for the past seven-eight months, and works out two to three times a week. She is also a certified diver.
Comparing fitness with being thin, Bruna cites her own example by saying that for a long time she harboured the illusion that being fit was being thin. However, three years back she suffered a slipped disc, which was a wake-up call for her.
“If you go cycling or jogging once a month, that’s really not going to help you as you need to be active on a daily basis. I was never active even though I liked being outdoors. I guess being fit comes from inside. It is not really about the way you look,” she says.
Good skin is part and parcel of overall good health and it shows on Bruna’s skin. But there is no elaborate regimen or expensive product that she uses to maintain it.
“I try to keep it simple. You really don’t need to invest in expensive products. You should keep washing your face as and when possible. I scrub my face thrice a week. I make sure I apply moisturiser every night before I go to bed.” The actor also keeps herself updated about things which are good for the skin. She also eats honey, walnuts and almonds.
Settling in a different country and adapting to new climate and food was challenging for the model-cum-actor.
“Though it was difficult I adapted to the culture and food here rather quickly. In Brazil, we use a lot of garlic, onion and salts. I am fond of South Indian food — as it is not too spicy. Veggies, rotis and fish are also favourites.”
