Endurance training helps a person’s brain remain healthy and provides protection from strokes, according to the results of multiple studies presented at the recent annual meeting of the German Neurological Society.

The more regularly active a person enjoys a better protection. Just 30 minutes of jogging, swimming or bicycling a day reduces the risk of a stroke by a quarter.

The risk of Alzheimer’s Disease also decreases with exercise.

Experts theorize that regular activity lowers blood pressure. High blood pressure doesn’t just increase the risk of a stroke, but has been shown to have a connection to reduced mental performance.
