Flame Orange: A melange of weaves and techniques

Bai Lou, the Kolkata-based weaving studio, is showcasing their summer collection at Raintree on March 7 and 8. The collection features contemporary batik, dabu jamdanis, an indigo-based “neel” collection, kantha work on saris, linen, abir and kupi silk saris.

Dabu jamdanis blend traditional Rajasthani mud resist printing technique on Bai Lou’s trademark jamdanis. Neel, their natural indigo collection features jamdani technique used to depict the union of Mahamantra and the Kalpataru.

Bai Lou has a created a new genre of light-weight silk for the summer and labelled it Kupi Silk. Whether it’s the deep intense colours, or soft summer pastels, they make perfect wear for the summer.

A wide range of linen saris with jamdanis and gauzy textures are also on offer. Bai lou showcases scarves, dupattas and fabrics as well, along with the saris.

The exhibition and sale will be on at Raintree, No. 4, Sankey Road, near ITC Windsor, on March 7 and 8, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Contact: 32723251/ 22354396.
