If you are in your 30s or 40s, married and have kids then the dream of walking the ramp or getting crowned in a beauty pageant is often dismissed as a crazy thought. In fact such is the stigma attached to ageing that one tends to fall prey to cosmetics, surgeries and botox to look young and beautiful.
Of course, beauty here is equated with youthfulness. But, alas the youth doesn’t last while your dreams do. So, for those who dream to model, get dressed up, and look chic ,age is no longer a bar.
Every year, Mrs. India Worldwide, a beauty pageant organised by Shri Sai Entertainments, provides an opportunity to married ladies to take a shot at glory. The fourth edition “Mrs. India Worldwide 2014” was recently held recently with 32 contestants.
The event had different rounds, namely the talent round and the Bollywood round. And through them the judges eliminated some contestants bringing the number down to 15. Soon, the question and answer round started and clearly here the panel of judges Sayali Bhagat, Atul Wasan, Kate Elizabeth, Bharat Bhrahmar and others equated beauty with smartness.
Questions like “If you could dine with one person who would it be” and “What does it take to become Mrs. India Worldwide” were put across to gauge the spontaneity, smartness and witty side of the contestants.
“It is always a tough competition. Every year, we bring together the participants and train them before the actual event. So, it is also a sort of learning for them apart from the opportunity to get crowned. This time, we conducted a full nine days pre-event training wherein we started from scratch,” said Bharat Bhrahmar, Chairman, Shri Sai Entertainments.
Among the participants there were many who were Army officers’ wives. Then there were teachers, doctors, engineers and housewives. As the event progressed judges shortlisted five contestants who were to vie for the title.
For now beauty didn’t equal to one trait. Instead, it called for a blend of many. Soon, there was announcement that the crown went to Aman Grewal from Patiala. “I feel on top of the world right now, this pageant has made me more confident about myself and after taking grooming sessions past few days from all the experts I feel I am a better person,” exclaimed Mrs Grewal.
The winner was awarded with a cash prize of Rs.51,000 and the two runner-ups Dr. Shivangi Maletia and Mrs. Rashmi Amitabh Shah won gift hampers and a trip to Jammu and Kashmir.
