Stone spell

Bansri Mehta comes to Chennai on October 15 with her much-acclaimed brand of jewellery — Bansri Joaillerie. Having moved from Mumbai to Los Angeles, the designer has fine-tuned her East-West sensibilities to create a line that fuses ethnic elements and contemporary styling.

From ostentatious necklaces to charming bracelets, Bansri’s collection goes beyond trends to create pieces that can be worn to formal functions and informal parties. Using silver as base metal (then dipped in 18k yellow or white gold), she creates jewellery encrusted with semi precious stones in varied shapes and sizes.

Chandelier earrings and cocktail rings also form part of the collection. Some pieces use her favourite Murano glass beads that are not just colourful, but also exude artistic charm.

Having graduated in fashion design, Bansri also studied apparel design and manufacturing. Jewellery has to complement the outfit. Her educational background helps her visualise the look. So you can dress up or dress down with her creations.

Bansri’s jewellery will be on display at Studio Saks, Jeypore Colony, Gopalapuram, from October 15.
