The fashion lovers in Coimbatore can look forward to a mega fashion week. The Kingfisher Premium Coimbatore fashion week, organised by Storm Fashion Company and sponsored by Kingfisher Premium is scheduled to start on November 2, and go on till November 4.

At a press meet held at the Residency, Gaurav Sharma, CEO of Storm Fashion Company said that the show will feature the collection of designers from all over India. “There will be two to three shows each day. Designers from Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Cochin will showcase their collections, mostly on bridal themes.” Erine Louis, General Manager of Residency that hosts the event said, “We thought November was a good time as Christmas and New Year are not too far off and people would be in a party mood.”

Cochin based designer Hari Anand will open the show, and Mumbai based Riyaz Ganji will be the Grand Finale Designer, for the closing day. It is exciting that Riyaz Ganji will be focussing on the traditional South Indian silk saris. He said, “I will be experimenting more with embroidery. The ladies of Coimbatore can watch the show and start adapting those designs.”

The brand ambassador of the fashion week will be the film star and former Mr. India, Ganesh Venkataraman, who was also present. “I was the brand ambassador for the Chennai fashion week as well. So to be a part of the whole venture again in Coimbatore is a pleasure.” Talking about Coimbatore as a fashion destination he said,” Coimbatore is a city that is developing fast. It has malls, IT parks and a college crowd. So it is an ideal place to host a fashion show of this grand scale.” The models, Miss Oriental Tourism India 2012 Pooja Bhamrah and Ford supermodel 2011 runner-up Anjum Fakih will also be walking the ramp.

The show director Rahul Dev Shetty has promised that there will be gorgeous models and good music for the show. “My role is to make them look good, put the right attire on the right model, and give the right lighting and music for each collection.”

The organisers are trying to bring local designers as well. The local host of the show is the owner of Tharakaram Silk House and designer, Radhika Prithvi. In the coming days, there will be a kickoff party for the fashion week that will see DJ Chicoo set the dance floor on fire. The show hopes to bring in some film glitterati as well. No names were mentioned, but all that the team would say was that the people would not be disappointed.
