T he Hindu ’s luxury print platform, Watches, Luxury and Beyond (WL) recently organised the World of Luxury, its annual event. This wine and cheese evening saw the city’s movers and shakers up the glamour quotient. A strong Kollywood presence in the form of actor Vijay, Jayam Ravi, Lakshmi Rai, Vijay Yesudas and wife Darshana proved that the event catered to luxury-seekers across the board. All of this came together at ITC’s new hotel, Grand Chola, where the ideal of sustainable luxury is implemented at every level.

In his address, The Hindu ’s CEO Arun Anant said that Chennai was the new fashion capital of the country. Talking about WL , Arun Anant said that it had received stupendous feedback and the night was a celebration of its success.

Food and drink apart, special mention must be made of the amazing antipasti and cheese platter that Chef Michele served guests with relish. A fashion show was also part of the evening and showcased collections from Navrathan, Ulysse Nardin, Bvlgari and Rolex. GRT Jewellers as the Classic Collection partner for this event exhibited its exquisite range.

The highlight of the show was the bridal couture line from EA Bridal Lounge while designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula’s collection drew oohs and aahs from the audience.

The displays from Rolex, Bvlgari, Ulysse Nardin, Raymond Weil, GRT Jewellers, Navrathan, Makoba, Audi and Mercedes among others helped guests get a closer look at the luxury offerings. Bvlgari’s Serpenti bracelet watches, characterised by a dial set into a head studded with gems and gold coils that wrap around the wrist, was a huge draw. The roar of the Mercedes Roadster was frequently heard as guests got behind the wheel of the sleek machine. The luxury living spaces section featured Catalyst, Ashvini and Radian E. Aquatainment had on display a spectacular-looking speed boat that does 80 km per hour.

As the night progressed, attention returned to Watches, Luxury and Beyond , which was launched earlier this year and showcases watches, jewellery, couture, living spaces, auto and lifestyle brands.
