The summer sun has been particularly harsh this year. And even though there are many ways to beat the heat, there’s nothing like a rejuvenating massage.

If you are willing to splurge on some pampering and much-needed relief from the searing heat, then head to Rejuve, the spa at The Lalit Ashok Hotel. They have on offer a range of spa summer packages that have varied benefits, from providing protection from the sun, to help keep the body cool and relieve stress pains.

After a hectic and tiring day, I am tempted to try out one of the massages at Rejuve. I make my way towards a cosy room with subdued, mellow lights. The aroma of sandalwood oil and of soft, lilting music helps me to relax instantly. I opt for the rehydrate massage that includes an hour of Swedish massage, followed by a full body scrub, made of tamarind and cane sugar, both of which are rendered with excellent skill by Sudha KH.

The massage soothes every aching nerve and muscle in my body. The scrub makes my skin glow. And the sweet-fragranced oil remains on my skin for two days! The one-and-a-half hour spa treatment, which has made all of summer so much more bearable, is followed by sauna and some quiet time spent at the Jacuzzi.

Vasant Kumar, an ayurvedic consultant and spa manager, who has been with The Lalit Ashok for three-and-a-half years speaks about what the different massages entail: “The eastern type massage has Abhyanga for one hour and Shirodhara for about fifty minutes. In Deep relaxation, we deep cleanse the face, along with deep tissue massage. It helps reduce stress pains due to the sun. In our hair spa, we give nourishment to the hair. During summers, sweat accumulates on the scalp that leads to hair fall. The hair spa counters this.”

The spa treatments are approximately priced between Rs.3,500 to Rs. 4,500 and the packages are on offer till mid-June. The Lalit Ashok is located at Kumara Krupa High Grounds, Kumara Park East.
