It’s the season to party. It means binging on fatty treats, late nights and little exercise. Result? Your face is all jaded and lacks sparkle. What it needs is some tender, loving care.

How about a facial that combines the goodness of grapes, avocado, green leaves and health-giving earth? All these lovely ingredients go into the three Christine Valmy (a renowned U.S.-based skin care services company) facials offered at Green Trends salons. They are meant to rejuvenate tired skin, remove tans and blemishes and leave you feeling pampered.

Therapist N. Karpagam, cluster coach at Green Trends, knows her job. Her hands are tender yet firm as they coax out the dead cells from long-ignored faces and massage in nourishing creams and potions. All of them, thankfully, non-smelling. She volunteers bits of information as she starts every new procedure (there are nine in all!) on your face — cleansing, toning, scrubbing, steaming, massage, soothing mask... and finally a peel-off mask.

Once the mask is off, a new you emerges. The skin is baby-soft and in an even tone.

A glow-giving galvanic massage is part of the facial, but if you are uncomfortable with it (it is not meant for those with metal tooth fillings or any embedded metal in the face area), ask for a hand-massage or an ultrasonic massage instead. Karpagam finishes off with a sun-protection day cream.

The three facials offered are the invigorating Bright and Shine (Rs. 1,200), the glow-inducing White Sparkle (Rs. 1,500) and the pigmentation-reducing Glowing Radiance (Rs. 1,600).

For the festive season, the salon has also introduced June Jacobs manicure and pedicure spa.

These include Citrus Blossom that includes a soak of citrus ginger gel, a Mandarin polish cream and a massage with citrus cream. This is priced at Rs. 225 for a manicure and Rs. 325 for a pedicure.

The citrus pore purifying spa (Rs. 360 and Rs. 465) additionally offers a mud masque for clearing up skin pores. The citrus royal shimmer spa (Rs. 380 and Rs. 520) is topped with a brightening mask that is said to remove blemishes.

Green Trends is at Sathy Road, Pappanaickenpalayam, R.S. Puram, Race Course, Saibaba Colony, Thudiyalur and Vadavalli. Visit >http://www.mygreentrends.in/ for details.
