As they do not cost much, movers and shakers use phone covers as an extended fashion accessory to be changed according to season, handset, mood and outfit

So you have this cool phone right? It is loaded with all the right, hectic apps. Next step is to get the right cover. Trendy, fancy, quirky, straight you get them all and the best thing is it doesn’t cost the GDP of a small-sized country. As they do not cost much, movers and shakers use phone covers as an extended fashion accessory to be changed according to season, handset, mood and outfit. There are, however, those who cannot be bothered with changing covers and so invest in a good quality hard case which lasts as long as the handset does.

The colourful covers start at Rs. 150 and go up to Rs. 1000. Sayed Irfan, who has a shop in Dubai Plaza on Brigade Road says, “We have different types of covers. The most popular are iPhone covers—both hard and soft. Women prefer colourful ones — hard covers with stones on them, doll-shaped covers, printed coloured panels. Men on the other hand prefer plain covers with a minimalist design. The maximum they are willing to try would be a Ferrari emblem or some Man U detailing.”

Sayed Arfath who also has a store on Brigade Road says: “Those who have expensive phones prefer protective covers rather than fancy ones.” Most of the phones today come with big size screen touch display which is not very easy to maintain. Often people break the screen.

“My phone is two years old and I have changed more than five cover till date,” says Kiran a student. “My very first white rabbit soft cover was adorable. It did a good job protecting my phone as well. Many a times my phone used to fall but my cute little rabbit always saved it. I now have a pink hard case. It is expensive with a mirror and Hello Kitty.”
