My hair has become dry. I also have split ends. What is the remedy?— Nalini
Twice a week, heat pure coconut oil and apply it on the hair. Apply it on the split ends too. Then immerse a towel in hot water, squeeze out the water, and wrap it around your head, like a turban. Keep it on for five minutes. Repeat the hot towel wrap three or four times. Then use a mild herbal shampoo. Use less shampoo and rinse it off well. After a shampoo wash, apply a creamy conditioner, taking very little of it and massaging it lightly into the hair. Apply it on the ends too. Leave it on for two minutes before rinsing it off. You can also apply a few drops of a leave-in conditioner or hair serum. Apply it the same way, but do not rinse off.
Is apple cider vinegar good for oily hair/oily scalp? If so, tell me how to use it.— Sunaina
Apple cider vinegar helps to prevent and control dandruff. Yes, it will help oily hair and an oily scalp. It helps restore the normal acid-alkaline (pH) balance of the scalp. If your hair is oily, wash it with a mild herbal shampoo three or four times a week, using just a little shampoo and taking care to rinse it off well with water. Half an hour before a shampoo wash, massage your scalp lightly with two tablespoons of vinegar. After a shampoo wash, add two tablespoons of vinegar to a mug of water and use it as a last rinse. Any normal vinegar, used for cooking purposes, can be applied. Include fresh fruits, raw salads, sprouts and yogurt in your daily diet. Drink six to eight glasses of water daily. Add the juice of a lemon to a glass of water and drink it first thing in the morning.
My hands are sun-tanned. Suggest a home remedy.— Kavitha
Apply til oil daily and massage it into the skin. Mix gram flour (besan), curd, lemon juice and a little turmeric (haldi) and apply it at least three times a week. Wash it off after half an hour. Then apply til oil and massage it into the skin, as recommended.
I go swimming everyday. What hair care routine would you suggest? I have curly, oily hair.— Stella
Wet your hair thoroughly before a swim. Wet hair retains less chlorinated water. Apply a hair serum and wear a cap before swimming. Serums coat the hair and protect it. The hair should be rinsed thoroughly after a swim. This helps wash out the chlorine to a great extent. Heat olive oil and apply it once a week, the night before a shampoo wash, using cotton wool and rubbing the scalp gently. The next day, apply the juice of a lemon on the scalp and wash your hair after 15 minutes. Wash your hair thrice a week, using less shampoo. Dilute the shampoo with a little water before application. After a shampoo wash, apply a little serum on the hair and leave it on.
