Globus Fusionista gave youngsters the opportunity to look and feel like celebrities. Payal Chhabria picks the highlights...
Ever wanted to look, feel walk and talk like a celebrity? Globus Fusionista provided a platform to customers via their two-week-long Indi Pop contest. The Indi Pop collection is young, dynamic and contemporary while having woven elements of traditionalism and is inspired by eight aspects. For instance, their collection of bright coloured tunics that has incorporated gathers and free-flowing fabric has been inspired by fairy tales, while their Kaputli counter presents mirrors and bandhini in a trendy fashion. “Indi pop is central to Globus. You could call it affordable designer couture,” says Binu Jacob, Sales, Area Manager, Globus.
Changing trends
Even brands are bitten by the social media bug or rather they feel the need to adapt themselves to it to reach out to the appropriate target audience. To promote this distinct couture, Globus decided to incorporate social media to reach a larger audience as well as to adapt to changing trends. They designed a two-week-long contest from May 8. Customers could walk in, design their own mix-and-match costume out of anything off the racks of the collection and dress themselves in it. Pictures of them were taken and uploaded on an exclusive Facebook page for the same. The winners were chosen by the number of likes they won themselves on the site.
Globus has focussed on giving their customers a touch-and-feel experience.
“It is an attempt to make customers special about themselves; to acknowledge the fact that people like them. Some of them got as many as 250 likes. So in that case 250 people are made aware of the Indi Pop collection in Globus. The response has been overwhelming. Next time, we must use social media more in-depth,” says Binu. The winners were announced on May 26 at the store at T Nagar. A brief photo shoot was conducted and they were awarded a gift voucher of Rs. 5000 each. All three winners claim that they walked into the store for shopping and happened to participate in the contest.
Renu Roy, one of the winners' says, “I shared the picture on my wall and my friends did the same. It was extremely overwhelming. I felt like I was under the spotlight.” Jailakshmi V, another winner, says, “I'm going to spread the word about Globus to all my friends and I'm also going to be shopping here a lot more.” The contest has ended. However, the likes for their pictures are incessant. Have you heard of Jailakshmi V, Renu Roy and Praveen Sharma, the new celebrities in downtown, yet?
