A mannequin at Elahe, Banjara Hills, sports the layered golden lehenga and dupatta worn by Deepika Padukone in the ‘Deewani Mastani’ song, shot in the opulent sheesh mahal set. That and a few other sample pieces, including a vermillion red lehenga sported by Deepika, are among the new Bajirao Mastani inspired collection by Anju Modi.
The stress is on the word ‘inspired’ since the designer isn’t replicating the same pieces she designed for Mastani (Deepika) and Kashi (Priyanka). The new line, fit for regal brides, is a commercial take on the heavy costumes designed for the film.
Up for sale are ensembles that have shararas, anarkalis, angrakha jackets, leheriya dupattas, lehengas and inner kurtis in permutations and combinations. The colour palette varies from ivory whites to creams, peach to vermillion red.
If layered, elaborate outfits fit for weddings aren’t what you are looking for, the designer also displays her new prêt line, Indigo Room, which brings back the glorious hues of the natural dye in easy-to-wear tunics, tops and kurtas for summer.
