The latest trends

At the onset of the New Year, the fashion-conscious public looks forward to knowing the latest trends as far as garments and accessories are concerned to remain in touch with the times. The fashion forecast for 2015 speaks of either minimalistic or extravagant trends, and nothing in between.

Colours for the season are pale pastels and neutrals, like taupe, tan, grey, white and black. Neons are no longer in vogue as this season is all about cooler, softer hues.

It’s official that chokers are back and with a bang, seen on the runways in displays by leading fashion brands everywhere. Chokers are one of the coolest kinds of neck jewellery around, and paired with a long necklace, they complete the look. The biggest throwback jewellery trend from the 1990s is all you will see in 2015.

Apart from chokers, multi strand neckpieces are the call. Chains, pearls or coloured stones layered together with a hint of charms here and there add the perfect touch. They may be very delicate pieces with super thin chains, or massive and ‘out there’ with bulky chains and crystals.

Hand:

Layering and stacking is seen in bracelets as well. Symbols, charms and slogan bracelets wrapped around the hand are a style statement. Leather chords, nylon threads and other materials add texture and dimension.

Midi rings were hot last season and will continue to be so. With an addition of ring stacks, this jewellery trend will stick around for a while.

The palm cuff is the new kid in town. After the monotonous bracelets, palm cuffs brought in a kick of change joining in with the edgy midi rings and knuckle rings. This stunning piece of jewellery is new, different, cool and as practical as we would like. It could be the next midi-ring.

Ear:

Earrings will the accessory most experimented with in the coming season. A trendy accessory among fashion designers is asymmetrical earrings. The asymmetry may be a subtle change in position or an element, or going over the top by wearing different earrings on both sides, or wearing a single earring.

Ear cuffs are going strong and will continue to be seen in the market. They do not have to go all the way to the top to make a statement. It is a simple way to make any outfit chic.

Body Chains:

Body chains have returned as the ultimate statement jewellery. These can be worn in different styles and multiple ways, worn bare or over clothing.

Cross-body chains are becoming the most popular style after being spotted on many popular celebrities. They are versatile enough to be paired with a flowing dress to give an elegant and chic look and can also be worn with bikinis or with casual tees for a more contemporary look.

Thigh chains are the latest accessory to be seen and will take the fashion world by storm. It is an intricate piece of jewellery that softly falls over your leg across your thigh or even the entire leg. Arm chains drape gracefully down your arm from your shoulder. This body jewellery peeks out from a short-sleeved top, adding a delicate touch of sparkle to your arm.

Baseball caps are a staple and can be found in various shapes and styles perfect for the casual look. They can be in solid colours or floral prints.

Hair chain:

Hair chains add an edgy look. They can be worn in a variety of ways to suit your personality. These chains can either be worn all over the head or just as an accent enhancing your hairdo.

Light and weightless scarves will hit the shelves next spring. Like other accessories, scarves will also be oversized. Available in different colours, textures and materials, the focus will be bold patterns and prints. So after understated brights, neutrals and pastels form the colour palette this season.

The comfortable and easy-to-carry bucket bags and cross body bags are not going anywhere though they have become a little bigger.

The oversized flower is a motif seen a lot on the runway; they look pretty and feminine.

Every hands-free bag has been countered with hands-only bags without shoulder straps making them rather high maintenance.

After the bug-eyed round shades it is time for oval sunglasses. Forming the perfect egg shape, this retro style is going to be the next big trend as far as shades are concerned.
