Garuda Mall received a dose of digital creativity, artistic talent and a ramp walk recently as the students of iCAT Design & Media College displayed their work in the Fifth Annual Graduate Showcase 2016. Students from various programmes offered by the college, such as advertising, interior design and fashion design, exhibited their projects at dedicated counters.
The event was inaugurated by Sonia Manchanda, the co-founder and principal designer of IDIOM Design and K. Kumar, the CEO of Image Infotainment. “Innovation is every story you tell, every product you make, every idea you coin and every application you devise. Build your creative temper, foresee your aspiration and execute your vision. While hard work can take you to the stars, innovation can make you a star,” said Kumar to the students.
The fashion show was the highlight of the event as students flaunted their collections designs on the ramp, which was choreographed by M.S. Sreedhar, founder-director of Body Language, Dance and Modelling School. The Divine Femininity Collection by Radian and Bikets Collection by Arjun Ganeshan stole the spotlight. Other designs were fresh and contemporary; and illustrated the artistic skill of the students.
“The graduate showcase is an effort to bring out the students’ projects to a larger platform. Showcasing their work in the public domain gives them exposure and it also helps people know about new emerging careers,” said Varsha Shelar, the regional academic officer of the college.
Another feature of the showcase was the game design and game development counter where students let the viewers look through and play some simple yet interesting games that they developed for their course projects.
The Interior Design bench had objects varying from Channapatna inspired lights to beautiful sketches of temples.
