Come Saturday and dance lovers in the city will experience dance frenzy like never before at Cirkus Indigo. The two-day Electronic Dance Music festival presented by Indigo Live and DJs Nikhil Chinapa and Rohit Barker.

Hosted at the Jayamahal Palace grounds the two-day festival promises to be a transcending experience with international headlining acts, tons of talent from home and custom-made 3D installations for the party capital of the country.

Nikhil and Rohit from Dance Republic give Metroplus the reason why Bangaloreans should be at the venue this weekend. “We want people to come out and play – which is also the tagline of the festival. That’s the attitude that is special to Bangalore,”says Nikhil. Rohit adds: “It’s not just about the DJs. It’s also about spending the weekend with friends.”

Having the festival within the city was always part of their agenda, the duo says. “There is a huge need for such kinds of festivals. A lot of festivals come into the city, play and leave. We have never had a festival that we can actually call our own. There is a large sense of ownership.”

Nikhil adds “The Jayamahal Palace venue itself is arguably one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever performed in. Gorgeous, the tree cover, the air, the vibe and everything else makes it just perfect for a dance fiesta.”

On working on this brainchild, Rohit says it is always a fun challenge. “It was a long time coming. We’re also lucky enough to place this smack in the middle of what everyone has been calling the EDM generation. It wasn’t a conscious effort but it’s a happy coincidence that we are in Bangalore to do it.”

Nikhil reveals that this festival may also have two more editions this year. “We have being working on this since September last year. The second and third edition will be adding on a lot of layers to it. We hope to develop this organically since it is a collaborative effort between the team at Indigo and us.”

With International DJs Stafano Noferini, Norman Doray and Daddy’s Groove headlining the festival, Cirkus Indigo will also feature DJs Jack Beats, Rene Amesz, Justin Prime and Kid Kreme along with Indian artistes Dance Republic, Tuhin Mehta, DJ Ivan, Praveen Achary as well as Bangalore’s own rising stars Shash & Chaz, Twokid Wickid and Tarun Papali.

Nikhil says this festival is not one of the things we should put a tag on. “You just have to be at Jayamahal Palace with a crowd that is from Bangalore to understand this. It’s just that moment and memory that lives on forever.”

Rohit adds his opinion. “We’ve always being saying this and we truly believe that we have the best dance music audience in the entire country right here in Bangalore.”

Season tickets are priced at Rs 2,500, single day tickets at Rs 1,750 for day 1 and Rs 2,100 for day 2. Tickets are available at bookmyshow.com. Visit >ww.cirkusindigo.com for more details.
