Ready for the big day? The artistes rehearse for Over the Rainbow

The Madras Musical Association choir performs Over the Rainbow , a show featuring songs from 15 Broadway musicals. It will take place on October 12 and 13 at the Museum Theatre, Egmore, 7 p.m.

The audience can look forward to hearing well-known singers from the city and watching scenes from six musicals featuring the chorus. Augustine Paul is the music director and Amrita Frederick, the choreographer. Edwin Roy, Shyam Benjamin, Navin Kumar and Prathiba Santwan will provide the orchestral accompaniment.

The Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Mikado, King and I, My Fair Lady, The Phantom of the Opera, The Pirates of Penzance, Oklahoma, Sister Act, Les Miserables, Jungle Book, Lion King, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Coat and Cabaret are some of the all-time favourites that will be featured. Sweeney Todd and Walk the Line are among the recent ones, while songs from operas such as Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s Don Giovanni comprise the programme. The 100-minute show presented by Green Meadows will be performed to live music. The singing is live as well. The soloists include Sangita Santosham, Anisha Simon, Nadisha Thomas, Pallavi Venkatrangam, Sharanya Gopinath, Roshni Sharon, Shilvi Sharon, Maxyn Kingston, Bernard Balachandran, Ravi T. Santosham, Revi Thomas, Ebenezer Arunkumar, Ashish Joseph and Prince Abraham.
