From rooms of just functionality, the kitchen and the bathroom have today come to define luxury. In keeping with this is The Hindu MetroPlus Kitchen & Bath Expo 2013, presented by I Ads & Events.

The third edition of the event offers plenty of options in bath tubs, shower cubicles, closets, steam rooms, designer washbasins, geysers, solar water heaters, accessories, microwave ovens, washing machines, modular kitchens, chimneys and hobs, crockery, cutlery, dining tables and more from different national and international brands.

The show is on at Chennai Trade Centre till May 5 from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. The entry fee is Rs. 30 a person.

Beyblade competition for kids

Funskool India organises The Beyblade Metal Masters Competition for kids aged six and above. For participating in the competition, the contestants will have to register. Spot registrations are permitted depending on the available slots. Contestants have to bring their original Funskool beyblades.

Pakistani pop rock band Strings will perform tomorrow

The Hindu May International Music Festival presented by VGN brings to you Strings on May 4 — day two of the festival. Popular Pakistani pop rock band Strings, best known for songs such as ‘Duur’ and ‘Dhaani’, is from Karachi, Pakistan. The band was initially formed by four college students Bilal Maqsood (vocals and guitars), Faisal Kapadia (vocals), Rafiq Wazir Ali (synthesiser) and Kareem Bashir Bhoy (bass guitars) in 1988. In 1992, the quartet disbanded only to make a comeback with two of its members Bilal and Faisal in 2000. This ushered in a new revival in the music industry of Pakistan. Strings performs a blend of Western music and Classical Eastern music. The music has been based on social issues and world peace. Strings have given over 700 concerts together in Pakistan, India, U.A.E, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the U.K., Italy, Norway, South Africa, the U.S., and Canada.
