A realistic edutainment game in the city helps participants build social skills

Imagine being trapped in a dark room with just a small candle or a flashlight to solve clues that will lead you to your way out. A clock ticks while the pressure to get out grows indescribable.

Real Escape Game, an adventurous edutainment facility situated in Ispahani mall, Nungambakkam, provides realistic games that require quick thinking. Launched by Freeing India, an amusement services company, Murali Barathi, its founder and director, says, “My partner company opened this in China and the response was really good. That gave me confidence that it would click here too.”

The game offers four puzzles with different themes that need to be solved within 45 minutes. The game takes an hour to fully enjoy. Participants are briefed in the first 10 minutes and the story of the game is narrated to them before they are ushered into the room and lockedThe game master watches them over a monitor, not to invade, but to help them if they are stuck. There is a helpline available in the room that participants can press at any time. A valuable clue will be given then.

The game was initially targeted at people between the 12 and 15 years. But the game is now enjoyed by everyone. It is slowly becoming popular with, over 1,200 ‘likes’ on their Facebook page with an month of operation Most participants say that they came to know about the game by word of mouth or online. Companies have started to send their employees for employee-engagement activities such as ice-breaking and employee appreciationEmployees also gain customer-or-event management skills, besides interacting with people from different strata of life. The game is a stress buster for people. “The main aim is for our customers to have fun, to feel happy until the last second they are here,” says Murali.

Once you are done with the game, get a picture clicked that immediately sent to you. A group activity, the game can be enjoyed by a maximum of seven people in a room, and a minimum of two. Bulk bookings can also be done where-in 19 people can be accommodated at once. Bookings cost Rs. 300 a person. “We are also planning to introduce outdoor laser tag, about the size of a tennis court,” adds Murali.
