The GIP Mall in Noida was the scene of the last leg of the promotional campaign for the movie Heartless , which released this week. The venue was reverberating with the song “Main dhoondne ko zamane me jab wafa nikla…” from the film.

The director Shekhar Suman, and protagonists of Heartless Adhyayan Suman, also the director’s son, and Ariana Ayam were present at the event and welcomed the guests and journalists. Talking about his directorial debut, Shekhar said that he always wanted to work with his son Adhyayan on a subject which is uncommon. As the title of the movie suggests, the film focuses on the medical phenomenon called anaesthesia awareness, a condition where a patient cannot move his body, but can hear and understand all that is happening around him. It is a story of a person who is injured in an accident. He clarified that the story has not been treated clinically, and has romance in it. “So better to say it a medical romantic thriller,” he summed up.

The seasoned actor said the movie is a tribute to his elder son Ayush Suman who passed away due to an incurable heart disease. Though the tragedy inspired him, a lot has been added through imagination in the film. Talking about a particular scene of heart surgery from the movie, he said several doctors had been consulted to make the scene look authentic. Hence it is just not imagination but hard medical facts too which make the venture a novel one, he added.

When asked about his experience of working his father, Adhyayan said, “In real my dad is heartless whenever he is working and he has laboured hard to extract the best out of me.”
