The International Association of Women in Radio and Television (India Chapter), in partnership with Prajnya, a Chennai-based non-profit organisation and Goethe-Institut Chennai hosts Our Lives… To Live, a film festival on gender violence. It is being organised as part of the One Billion Rising (OBR) campaign, a global effort to drawing attention to violence against women and all kinds of gender-based injustice, within homes and communities as well as in other spaces.
Over two days, films that draws audiences into the lives of women from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Africa will be screened, including last year’s Oscar winner for Best Documentary, Saving Face, on acid attacks in Pakistan; Immoral Daughters, which explores the phenomenon of honour killings in India; and Sarabah, an award-winning film from Senegal on the inspirational Sister Fa.
Films will be screened on February 22 and 23 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, No. 4, Rutland Gate, Fifth Street, Nungambakkam.
