West Indian cricketer and all-rounder with the Chennai Super Kings…these could well be Dwayne Bravo’s credentials on the field.

For an off-the-field description, add the word ‘entertainer’, because that’s exactly what he is, at heart.

At the launch of Adidas’ Climachill, the flamboyant player proved why.

He sang a few lines from a Tamil song, danced to superhit songs like ‘Lungi Dance’ and even did some abs training to entertain the excited fans who had assembled at the store.

Bravo did not stop at that – he announced that his latest single, ‘Chalo Chalo’, will be released early next month. “I’ve been working on an album, but for now, there’s a single.

It will be in English and Hindi, and I have collaborated with singer Nisha B for the song,” he said with much pride, after singing a few lines.

With that, he will truly arrive as an entertainer . He has already made a mark in that segment – he shook a leg for a song in Tamil film Ula .

Bravo is doing all this for his many fans in Chennai (“it’s a home away from home”) and across the country.

Some of them asked him for advice, and he sportingly said, “Be disciplined, be respectful to elders and give your 100 per cent all the time.”

The Chennai Super Kings’ cricketer is very popular in the city, thanks to the entertainment and sporting action he provides. His athleticism on the field is also a huge attraction.

That stems from the strict fitness routine he follows throughout the year.

“Before tournaments, I do a lot of workouts…endurance training, etc. During the course of the games, I do not do so much but my everyday 30-minute routine is a must,” he confessed, “Fitness is important not just for sport but for life too.

To see the current crop of Indian cricketers – like Kohli, Raina and Dhawan – with fit abs is so wonderful.”

This season, Bravo has been colourful – not just on the field, but off it too.

He was recently photographed shopping for mangoes in a street corner.

Ask him about it and he says, “Well, I love mangoes! When I saw them on the streets of Chennai, I just thought, ‘Why not?’ and bought them.”
