Christina, god bless her, seems to know that one size does NOT fit all. And so if you are the kind who is constantly cribbing about not finding your size in readymades, may be you should check out the collection at the exhibition at Whispering Stones.
There are kurtis and short tops that are printed, pintucked and pretty that are available from extra small right up to the triple extra large size. And there is a wide range to choose from. The kurtis are colourful, bright and come in cottons, silks and crepes. Amethyst in Chennai has come to Coimbatore with a collection of jewellery from Amrapali and a line of clothes and accessories from Christina.
If jewellery is your fix, don’t forget to check out the ‘dholki’ necklace. They are typical of Rajasthan, and are just beautifully shaped silver beads strung simply on a silk cord. Elegant, understated and an unmistakable style statement. Please do ask to see the ‘heera kanthi’ too.
Lend them your ears Amrapali’s jhumkas, anklets, bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, rings and bangles all stand out. All of them are in silver and some of them are plated in gold. But whatever shape and size they are in, they are they beg attention, the big, traditional jhumkas, the sleek and delicately crafted danglers and the very contemporary styled ones.
There are also monster rings and cuffs, very trendy and hip. Mother-of-pearl, semi-precious stones, antiques, antique-finish…there is something to suit every wardrobe, age and preference. The designs are from Manish Arora and the Amethyst designer Kiran Rao.
If you can tear yourself away from the jewellery, take a look at the scarves and stoles. Also very pretty. There are also clutch bags, hair barrettes, sling bags, wallets and mobile pouches. The clutches start from Rs 380 while the Christina tops are upwards of Rs 1050.
