Rise of the patterns
French street Artiste Ouvrier whose art you may stumble across on walls in Paris and Pondicherry shows his work at Artika Gallery this entire month. An expert in using the stencil, see how Ouvrier and his wife Aye Cherie have merged Indian mythology and French 19 century life in the same canvas. The show ‘Buzzling light’ has symbolism disguised in fantasy.

Labour of love
How many different kinds of jobs make the world go around? Walk into the sea-facing Maison Colombani of the Alliance Francaise and you will find labour captured in its finest hour by amateur photographers across the world. ‘Jobs of the world’ that opened recently showcases 44 photographs that catalogue diverse trades. The photographs were selected among local winners in 167 Alliance francaises over five continents. The international photo contest is being organised by the Alliance Française Foundation, every since 2010. The images tour the world ,starting wth the Parisian galleries.

Maison Perumal showcases software engineer and self-taught artist Mithran’s abstract take on nature and the environment. Visit the show ‘Abstract and Modern’, supported by the Shilpataru Foundation to see how Mithran plays with materials around him - flat irons, tooth brushes and paper- making it part of the creative process.
