Over the years, Histrionica, the annual arts festival organised by Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce, has emerged as a platform for some of the finest emerging and established young talent in the city. This year, the 10th edition of Histrionica ties up with The Hindu’sMetroPlus as the Associate Sponsor to present a line up that promises to be both invigorating and exciting. The festival is slated to be held from February 24- 27 and will see, over the course of these four days, a gathering of young, upcoming artists, actors, musicians and dancers.
The festival, organised by the Dramatics Society of SRCC, has become the largest performing arts festival in Delhi University. Since its inception in 2004, Histrionica has embraced the beauty of theatre in all its forms, be it Rustic Street or the classic stage. This year, along with the stage play and nukkad natak competition, participants and audience will also enjoy events like ‘Sum of Parts: The Skit Making Competition’ and ‘Word2Mouth: The Dubbing Competition’.
Staying true to the spirit of performing arts, the festival is also organising ‘Just for Laughs: The Stand-Up Comedy Act’ and ‘Livewire : The Rock Night’. While the internationally renowned comedian, Papa CJ has been roped in for Just for Laughs, Livewire will see the phenomenal Raghu Dixit Project regaling Delhi University with their spellbinding amalgamation of folk music and contemporary exotic genres. Apart from the core highlight, plenty of side events have also been organised, to ensure that the festival days see a sustained level of enthusiasm, activity and spirit.
Organised with the intent of entertaining and encouraging both audience and artists, Histrionica promises a coming together of participants from Delhi University colleges and institutions from all over the country. An attempt to break the mould of traditional college festivals, an unusual event will bring Histrionica to an end, and ‘Lumos: The Lantern Raising’, will wrap up the festivities. This event will witness close to a hundred lanterns being released into the tranquil February evening.
