Some restaurants are popular for their food and some for the fantastic locations. Few in the city can boast of both. At the ongoing Chinese Food Festival at Vihar in Rushikonda, food lovers can relish not only an array of special Chinese delicacies but also enjoy the sea view from an elevation that few food joints in the city has.

The food festival has an exhaustive menu that begins with the classic selections of starters like butter garlic fish, Mangolian prawn, dragon chicken, sauté chicken and Mangolian lamb on sizzler. The vegetarian section includes veg lolypop, wontons and Shangai rolls and Mangolian vegetables.

I make myself comfortable in a cosy corner that has the one of the best views of the sea.

Ambience : Relaxed Wallet factor : Rs 600 to Rs 800 (per person) Timing : Lunch (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.), Dinner (7.30 p.m. to 11 p.m.)

The food is served à la carte, but that shouldn’t stop you from filling your tummy to your liking. The menu is long but the restaurant staff offer help to make the selections. A steaming chicken wonton soup makes for a perfect start to the Chinese feast.

This is followed by a platter of veg and non-veg starters. One of the highlights of the festival is the butter garlic fish. The tender slice of the ‘Konam’ fish melts softly in the mouth with its subtle flavours.

Selecting the main course can be a time-taking procedure.

We opt for the sliced fish in black bean sauce, which doesn’t disappoint us. Among the other options, there are prawn in orange sauce, lemon chicken, egg plant in hot garlic sauce, sweet and sour vegetables and mixed veg in lemon coriander sauce.

You can choose from their menu of rice and noodles which includes ‘poocha’ – mince chicken fried rice with spinach, ginger corn fried rice, pan fried noodles chicken, home style fujian noodles (noodles tossed with crushed peanut and coconut) and Yu-Fu Mein (friend and tossed noodles).

Wrap up the meal with the dessert section that includes Darsan and Banana Toffee.

The food festival is open for lunch and dinner and will be on till August 30.
