The Crafts Council of India presents The Textile Show , a two-day exhibition of hand-crafted and hand-woven saris. The exhibition brings together artisans and weavers with a fresh sense of design, working over the years to revive and re-establish the traditional hand-woven sari in a contemporary context. The established techniques of block printing, embroidery and weaving will be represented in new forms and designs. The range of textiles include block prints, Chanderis, tussars, Bhagalpuris, Bengal cottons, Maheshwaris, Venkatagiris, bandhinis, linen saris, Uppadas, Paithanis, leheriyas, chiffons and more. Also, Maati crafts from Mumbai will showcase handmade jewellery and accessories.
The young designers, weavers, artisans and others participating in this show include Leena Das, Eka, Pradeep Pillai, Anavila, Shohel Abdul Satar Khatri, Haji Munna Haji Noor Mohd, Vaya, Ghanshyam Sarode, Ikramuddin Neelgar, Meera Basu, Sarisha, Shilpa Guru Rehana Begum, Ramanand Basak, Lemon Tree, Pritha Biswas, La Galerie, and Sita Collections will also be in show.
