Perched high up on the all new Ford Endeavour, gives a feeling of dominating others on the road. This one launched a few months back is the second generation of Endeavour that was first launched in 2003.

To present the experience of driving the red coloured 2.2litre automatic transmission Endeavour, we spent a couple of days last week in the sunset. Driving around the Capital, in and out, and then off to the suburbs, the objective was to throw in a challenge at the car and to test it in snow, rock and mountains. Even though all of that stayed out of bounds, we managed to find enough of heat to challenge every bit of this car. Summers these days are cruel. And, we all dread walking inside a burning hot cabin. But, apparently this big machine welcomes you in. It doesn’t let your fingers burn the moment you touch the steering. And, it doesn’t make you jump off the leather seats. You sit and adjust calmly. The air conditioning takes over quickly.

Improvisation

The cabin from inside was done with neatness and precision. It gave an impression of quality. There were a few cubbyholes. There was a touchscreen which worked fine and had pretty much all features that usually come along with it. Though, I feel it could be improved upon. For instance the audio quality was not the best and the touch was not quite Apple-like. The Start Stop button was deeply missed. Despite all this, Ford brings Active Noise Cancellation technology to keep noise inside the cabin to the minimum. Overall, the three row seating arrangement and boot, both were spacious. And, the car scored well on its interiors.

Speeding

So we thumped on the accelerator pedal. It made some noise, some vroom and we experienced some lag. Yes, it was the rear-drive that we were in. The engine tried hard to pull the machine forward. A few extra seconds and then it worked fine in the mid-range. In fact, it kept getting better with the increase in speed. This one got 158bhp to pack some power. It was smooth and sturdy…toughness oozing always. We sailed at high speeds and the cabin was quite. The meter read 8.9km/l as the fuel efficiency. And, with that we came to the end of this short but well-controlled SUV drive experience in the scorching heat. The size over here is the highlight. As far as the cost is concerned, Rs. 24.75 lakh is the starting price of the car.
