Birthday celebrations? Need to get things going and organise the food and snacks? Wait! What if you have some one who can take care of the whole package – right from the birthday cake, snacks, juice and even paper plates and napkins? Well, all you have to do is dial a number and the Just Bake Cake Mobile will drive right into your home, loaded with the goodies.

This dessert truck is the brain child of Kumaresh Sekaran, who also works as an architect and takes care of the marketing and franchisee aspect for Just Bake. “Street food has always been ingrained in our Indian culture. Eating outdoors is a great treat for children. I believe it is relished more. So we wanted to take the desserts out of the box, like the AC room, to the streets and homes and the Just Bake Cake Mobile with the Just Bake logo hit the city streets,” starts Kumaresh, who started off on this venture with Rami Reddy, owner of Just Bake and its director, Vijay Geddam.

Though he and his team started “a design exercise, the RTO regulations killed the imaginative spirits since structural changes are not permitted here. Finally, we built the experimental refrigerated box, which would just open out to foodies.”

According to him Bengaluru is “food truck capital of India. This is the best place to do anything innovative,” explains the man who adds that he first studied the various food trucks and their functioning abroad, before he zeroed in on the design for the dessert van that he launched here.

“Being the first specialised dessert truck in India, we had to face challenges about how to keep the temperatures controlled so that the desserts remained fresh even on the move.”

The vehicle offers everything packaged. “It’s all loaded inside. We wanted to offer baked goodies to kids and also send out the truck to families. So we decided to rent it out to families on an hourly basis. Renting the truck is priced at different rates like Rs. 4,000 for an hour and Rs. 8.000 for two hours. “There will be cakes, snacks like pizzas, muffins and so on. For the Rs. 4,000 package 40 people can eat their fill. We also offer everything on a theme basis including plates, dishes and the drinks. So if you have a party and hire this van you just sit back and relax. The truck is yours and will come loaded with the snacks and even the tissues!,” beams Kumaresh. When the truck is not rented then “it is sent out on the road, covering one area every day. We have checked with the police and got the permission, all we do is take care not to create any public nuisance,” he says.

Then he explains how the truck is designed, “Once it is parked, the canopy opens out and so do the shutters just like that of a plane taking off and immediately the irresistible lovely display can be seen by people.” The dessert truck can also be rented out for concerts, homes, work places and corporate events. “As long as you provide the parking space we will provide you with cake truck, loaded with the goodies.”
