Bangalore is in for a musical treat again this weekend. This time around, it is Denmark’s newest rising rock stars, Go Go Berlin, that will be performing in the city as part of Live Viacom18’s Emerge.

Since their inception in 2010, the Danish retro rockers, in record time, have risen to stardom and have enthralled audiences all over the world with their mesmerising live shows. Comprising front man Christian Vium, Anders Sondergaard, Mikkel Dyrehave, Emil Rothmann and Christoffer Ostergaard, the band has toured countries such as the US, China, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain and their native, Denmark, and made appearances at key festivals over most of the European continent.

“This is our first visit to India and we’re very excited about our gig in Bangalore,” says an exhilarated Christian, who, with his band, is on a three-city tour to Mumbai, Pune, and Bangalore. “We have been wanting to come here for a while now and it’s great that everything has worked out at the right time. We look forward to exploring the place during our brief stay and we also hope we get to listen to some Indian music as we have still not had a chance to do so,” he adds.

Describing their style of music as “Rock music in 2014” Christian says: “The audience can expect a high energy rock n’ roll show.” “We do our best at every gig but we’ve been jamming a lot more in the recent past and are in really good shape so we can vouch that it’s going to be a show you wouldn’t want to miss,” Andres chimes in.

They say their influences are aplenty and come especially from the 60s. According to Christian, “The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, The Doors, Kings of Leon, The Clash, and other such great rock legends have inspired our music. That said, we have found our sound and are developing it.”

Having been together for four years now, they have now started getting into the business side of their music. “We enjoy meeting up to jam and our way of working is fuss-free. We usually meet at Christian’s place and write songs together. Once we all come together, things begin to fall in place and in time we create a piece that each of us believes in,” Andres says.

While this rock outfit does a colossal number of live shows, they also work on new material in their studio and have an album expected to be launched in February 2015. Christian states: “We enjoy doing both. They’re each so different from the other. On one hand, we’re so kicked to have our fans in front of us, singing, dancing, and sweating. On the other, our creative side is nurtured when we create new music in the studio.”

Following their India tour, Go Go Berlin will head to Denmark, after which they will gear up for a concert in Germany before they take a well-deserved vacation.

Catch Go Go Berlin on November 14, 10 p.m. onwards at Vapours, Indirangar. For more information, call 080-49653345.
