“Once, when I was munching on chips, the CSK players started hitting sixes. After that, every time a ball is bowled, my friends feed me chips,” says Hari, a software engineer.
For some, hygiene goes for a toss. “I wear the same jersey for every CSK match, and I only wash it when CSK loses. So, this season I haven’t had to wash it a lot,” says Sohail Hussain, a college-student.
“I watch bowling on one television and batting on another,” says Rohit Balaji, an engineering student and a huge fan of the team.
Balachandran, a 40-year old CSK fan, wears his jersey only back-to-front, as he believes that having the player’s name pointed at the television brings good luck.
“Before every CSK match, I perform puja for the CSK jersey,” says Akshay Singhvi, a Chartered Accountant. The superstitions don’t end with these.
“I undertake a long fast on the day of the Chennai match, and even after it is over, I eat only if the team wins,” says Akhil Prakash, a B-Com graduate.
Well, with these superstitions (to each their own), it looks like CSK crazens can claim a little credit for the team’s wins too!
