If watercolour is your thing then this could be the chance to hone your skills – from none other than master artist Vasudeo Kamath on June 25 and 26 at Venkatappa Art Gallery. Organised by Color-In India, this is the sixth edition of ‘Hues of Watercolours’, a series of workshops focussing on this beautiful technique.
“Watercolour seems to be a simple technique but it is the toughest. You need to handle the colours perfectly and what is done is done. There is no room for correction,” says Anup K., artist and founder of Color-In India.
It is beneficial for those who practise watercolours to improve their skills. “And who can be better than Sir (Vasudeo Kamath) to teach this? He is a guru to many of us,” adds Anup, who along with other BFA students of CAVA (Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts) founded Color-In India in 2013.
“The beginners will be taught the basics. They will be taught how to mix colours. It will have a session on portraits, copying from a photo. We are all lovers of realistic art and we know how difficult it is to copy from a photo. What we have noticed in these workshops is that there are less number of repeaters and more first timers.”
The two-day workshop comprising 25-30 participants will be held at the auditorium in Venkatappa.
The outfit’s activities are not just limited to workshops. They organise art classes, workshops for corporates, teaching art to the underprivileged and even sketching sessions on Sundays at Cubbon Park called ‘Pencil and Chai’. The group also organises short and long duration tours to nearby areas like Srirangapatna, Wayanad etc. “The idea is to promote art and give back something to the society which has given us so much.”
