What would you call a potpourri of Indian classical, folk, jazz and hip-hop music? A.P. Ensemble: The Colliding Worlds Project is probably the best answer. The 90-minute musical by a group of musicians from Chennai and USA, will be part of The Park’s New Festival, organised in collaboration with the Prakriti Foundation, next month.

With the increasing socio-cultural influence of Bollywood culture in America, and the expanding interest for jazz, hip hop and cross-cultural music in India, the group aims to bring the both on stage, blending the East with the West.

Besides The Colliding Worlds Project, the festival, which will tour six cities (Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi) also includes two other performances — Torobaka, a dance duet by Akram Khan (Kathak-contemporary, UK) and Israel Galván (Flamenco-contemporary, Spain), and Enflightenment, a comedy show by Rupesh Tillu, who plays 30 characters portraying the funny people he met and interacted during his journeys abroad.

As part of the festival, a 45-day campaign to raise money for A.P. Ensemble: The Colliding Worlds Project, is on. The event is scheduled on September 22, at 8 pm, at Sansara, The Park. The campaign link is https://www.wishberry.in/campaign/ap-ensemble-colliding-worlds-project/
