Friday Movie Club at Cholamandal presents Three Colours: Cézanne . The film introduces the life and work of Paul Cézanne (1839 – 1906).
It takes the viewer on a journey through Cézanne’s often troubled life and career. The painter was a reclusive figure whose immense talent was widely recognised only later in life. In fact, Cézanne did not even have an individual exhibition until he was 53. By then, he was so embittered and ambivalent towards the Parisian art world that he refused to attend it. The programme includes interviews with various important contemporary artists, who offer an insight into the pervading influence of Cézanne.
The film will be screened at 7 p.m. on April 5 at Cholamandal Centre for Contemporary Art (CCCA) at Cholamandal Artists’ Village, Injambakkam, ECR. Entry is free and open to all, and seating is on a first-come-first-served basis. For details, call 95001-05961 / 2449-0092.
