Muthappa Rai, Karnataka’s famous reformed don, is the subject of filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s next film, Rai . The film Rai will be made in four languages – Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. RGV also tweeted that the biopic will be shot in Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Dubai and London.

Actor Vivek Oberoi, who has earlier starred in RGV’s underworld and gangster flicks such as Company and the Rakta Charitra franchise, plays Muthappa. The film will be launched on May 1, RGV announced on Twitter. Vivek is often referred to as Bengaluru’s son-in-law, after he married Priyanka Alva, daughter of politicians Jeevraj and Nandini Alva, and visits the city often.

We’ll be waiting to see how he’ll tackle this tricky role.

While Rai’s role was initially to be played by Kichcha Sudeep, who has worked with RGV in films like Phoonk , for reasons he didn’t make clear, RGV said he had dropped the idea of casting Sudeep. The movie is being produced by C.R. Manohar.

Suvarna TV channel is launching a new serial on April 25 – Jeevana Chaitra with the tagline “Hatakke preetiya paatha”.

And that’s the underlying theme of the serial – that love can never be won over with force.

The serial traces the life of Jeevan, a technician, who, in the absence of his parents raises his three sisters, doting on them. All he hopes is to see them all married and settled. But the sisters believe that they need to get their brother married and find an ideal match for him in Chaitra. Of course, life’s complicated and the serial unravels how things go between Jeevan and Chaitra. Raghavendra N. plays Jeevan and Preeti Sreenivas plays Chaitra in this serial directed by Kailash Malavalli and produced by R.A.S.Narayan and A. Abdullah.

The three sisters are played by actors Rashmi, Divya and Megha. The serial premieres on April 25 at 6 p.m.
