She looked at my face closely, pointed at different points of my far-from-flawless skin and said: “You have dry skin, discolouration and tanning.” So the verdict from the beautician Kim at Lakme wasn’t as bad as I had expected it to be, considering I have little time to take care of my skin, given my hectic work schedule. Now, isn’t that the same story for many women?

“What can I do about it?” I ask. The response I got would come as another pleasant surprise: “We will apply our special chocolicious masque.” As the name suggests, the pack is made exclusively of chocolate. Why should I waste chocolate on my skin. I would rather eat it! You must be wondering. You are not wrong — and you will feel tempted to eat it even more when you smell it, the aroma is lovely —but chocolate, surprisingly, is excellent for the skin. It nourishes your skin, makes it radiant and refreshed. Chocolate is an anti-oxidant that helps to tone the skin. Cocoa has moisturising properties that is believed to prevent wrinkles.

The masque reconstitutes the protective film of the skin, which leaves your skin glowing.

The chocolicious masque can also be used as a top-up to the other facials.

And so I choose Eminence Radiant Glow facial that soothes the skin, prevents discolouration and removes tan.

Kim massages my face gently. I feel an instant calm. After about a half-hour of cleansing, scrubbing, toning and moisturising, Kim dabs my skin with a tepid chocolate mask. As mentioned before, the aroma is amazing, and if you are a lover of chocolate, divine.

The masque soothes my skin and I don’t know how time flies when Kim returns to remove the masque gently.

After wiping off the remnants of the masque with wet cotton wool, Kim says: “You came to the parlour tanned, your skin looking dull, and now you will leave with your skin looking radiant.” I gingerly get up, see my face. Yes! I look fresh, the tan removed, the face cleaned thoroughly.

Chocolicious masque is available at all Lakme salon outlets across the city and is priced approximately at Rs. 549 plus taxes.
