The curtain goes up on the third International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala on June 11. If last year's fete had films with a touch of nostalgia, this year's theme seems to be on the human spirit, with ‘Disability Films' being the highlight of this year's edition. The third edition of the festival introduces a package of Kerala-based ‘campus films,' which will become an annual section of the fete.
The festival begins with the screening of Rajesh Jala's Children of the Pyre , a true story of seven children who keep the fires burning in a crematorium. Other movies that will be screened include Oscar-winning Smile Pinki and Darius Goes West . Four films made by Shabnam Virmani will be screened at the fete as will a few films by David MacDougall.
For delegate passes
Only persons above 18 can apply for delegate passes. While an ordinary delegate pass is Rs. 50 for each person, students can get free passes. Last date of registration for passes is June 8.
You can register online at www.iffk.in or send a filled form by post to Secretary, Federation of Film Societies of India Office, Kalabhavan, Thiruvananthapuram-695014, along with a passport size photo. Those applying online can attach their photo with the online application form. The fee must be paid via demand drafts payable at Thiruvananthapuram to Secretary, Federation of Film Societies of India. You can collect your delegate card only after submission of money from the Kalabhavan office.
