Director Relangi Narasimha Rao has made many comedy movies but this is the first time he is using 40 minutes of graphics in Eluka Mazaka that revolves around a mouse, played by Brahmanandam. He keeps coming out and makes the hero’s life a hell and the character runs throughout the film. The director summarises the story, “The hero is Ganapati, played by Vennela Kishore. And the story runs on the game played by Brahmanandam.”
The shoot lasted 40 days that included four songs. Narasimha Rao reveals that a story on a rodent as such is not a new concept but a film on it in Telugu has not been attempted before. There has also been an English film on how a rat gets into a factory and prevents the owners from selling it. He had read a story on a mouse in a magazine as a serial titled Eluka vocche illu bhadram — how it enters a house and creates havoc living there.
‘Screenplay’ Diwakar Babu and the director put their thoughts together and weaved a story and developed into a feature film.
How was the experience shooting this novel theme? “I found it thrilling. It was exciting especially during discussion and editing. The song Eluka Mazaka , Idhi ganapati ilaka is fun. Eluka leni time lo Brahmanandam and Brahmanandam leni time lo eluka vocchi gola chestaaru. Finally the mouse says, ‘nenu neeku addu raanu’, wishes him all the best and disappears.”
The director says had it been someone else, the film would have taken 80 days to be wrapped up but as a technician he kept the film’s budget in control, and is planning a September release. For some one who never attempted use of graphics in his films, it was a challenge for Narasimha Rao. He took the suggestions and help from his friend Kodi Ramakrishna . The graphics are being executed by Satyanarayana Reddy who is now working on VV Vinayak-Akhil’s movie.
