The Open Palm Court at the India Habitat Centre witnessed a photography exhibition by the Lavasa couple. On the walls of the gallery was displayed an array of works by the duo. The witty captions helped convey the theme “Mates and Moments”.

Novel and Ashok Lavasa through this exhibition carried forward their journey of exploring nature. “We came up with the idea of ‘Mates and Moments’ by presenting different facets of nature, capturing the moments of peace, love, harmony, interdependence and companionship,,” said Novel, an entrepreneur.

The couple loves to travel and shoot pictures, taking time out from busy professional careers. “We capture whatever catches our attention. It could be when we are out on a tour or it could be right outside our home. We click whatever we think needs to be captured for it later becomes a memory,” remarked Ashok, a secretary in the Government of India.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Vice-President of India, M. Hamid Ansari who while appreciating the photographs commented in the guest’s book, “Thank you for inviting me to see this excellent collection of photographs.”

“We click thousands of pictures and then display that one photograph which appeals to our beliefs, making it stand out from the others,” explained Novel.

Thus what seemed to have been overlooked by the human eye, the shutterbugs were able to capture.

The exhibition depicted the relationship of the majestic mountains with the rivers flowing from their wombs, that of the destruction of the Berlin Wall with the reunion of East and West Germany, the connection of the carefree migratory birds with the places they visit every year and the bond of a dog with its puppy.
