Serious film viewers are in for a treat as the Directorate of Film Festivals will be launching into a month-long screening of national award film of 2010.

The films, to be screened at New Delhi's Siri Fort auditorium, have been selected by a jury after a careful scrutiny of the movies on view during the year just gone by.

The festival is being inaugurated by Choudhury Mohan Jatua, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.

Also present at the opening ceremony will be film actor, Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, and the female lead of Dabanng. Incidentally, Dabangg will be the opening feature film.

The opening non-feature film is Pistulya which is directed by Nagraj Manjule who has been chosen as the best debut director.

The festival gives an opportunity to the viewers to see the best of language films, besides the best of films in categories like social issues, science and technology, environment, sports and family values – films that normally one cannot watch in movie halls.

Some of the award winning films include Snehal R. Nair's Germ , P. Seshadri's Kannada film Bettada Jeeva , Arunima Sharma's Shyam Raat Seher , P.R. Ramadas Naidu's Kannada movie Hejjegalu , Pradeep Maadugula's Telugu film Advaitham , B. Suresha's Kannada film Puttakkana Highway , Jadumoni Dutta's Jetuka Pator Dare (Assam), Somnath Gupta's Ami Aadu (Bengali), Goutam Ghose's Moner Manush (Bengali), Anusha Nandakumar's Boxing Ladies ” (best film on sports), Biju Toppo and Meghnath Bhattcharjee's Iron is Hot (Best environment film), Prateek Vats's Kal 15 August Dukan Band Rahegi (A) (best short fiction film) besides Salim Kumar's Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu (a film which has won awards for best feature film, best actor, best cinematographer and best music direction.

Entry to the film festival is free and seats will be available on first-come-first served basis. All non-English, non-Hindi and non-feature films will carry English subtitles.
