Here are some of the advantages if you’re considering a full-grown pet for adoption - · If you’re a first-timer: People who don’t have past experience raising pets might find it relatively easy to take care of an adult animal as they are toilet-trained (and leash-trained) already, and eat a regular diet of solid food. Further, adolescent or adult pets do not need frequent monitoring the way baby animals do.
If you work full-time: Adult cats and dogs are a good fit for people who are away for several hours in the day as their feeding or walking schedules are fixed, making it onvenient for you to plan your day.
If the primary caretaker is a senior citizen: If your new cat or dog is likely to be cared for by an older parent from the first day onwards, going for an adult pet is a good idea, as they are calmer and often have a more relaxed temperament than kittens or puppies. Walks are easier, and they are past the chew stage, so your aged parents don’t have to worry about deftly managing teething troubles on their own.
Senior pets get a chance too: An adult cat or dog could be aged anything from one year to seventeen or more. Adult animal adoption is a boon to those furry ones who find themselves at animal shelters after being given away by their former owners. Very often, they are older animals – these pets are accustomed to individual attention, and the warmth and affection of their families and are unable to cope with shelter life. Irrespective of their age, these pets have one thing in common – they are looking for someone to love and a place called home. Keeping our hearts open to them is the best way to give them a second chance at a fairytale ending.
