Priya Anand has a big wish list, she wants to work with all the good directors and actors in Telugu cinema. The audience and the industry had responded warmly to both her films Leader and Rama Rama Krishna Krishna and she has already signed her third film with Siddarth a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Perched comfortably on a chair in her hotel room, the newbie actress gets chatty and says that she was never cut out for the ramp as she is too petite, but she did flirt with the television for quite a few commercials. She majored in communications and journalism and returned from the US after ten years to work in Tamil cinema. Shekar Kammula saw her pictures on the net and she finally made her debut as Ratna Prabha, the hero's secretary in Leader .
Plain and simple Priya has an outstanding quality to articulate and a persuasive element to rectify her mistakes immediately. Her immense confidence and her passion for work comes across on the screen. Ask her if Leader was the ideal launch she exclaims, “There is no perfect film as such, perfect cinema is individualistic, the tastes of the audience is so broad in Indian cinema that there is a lot of scope to experiment.” Leader she terms it is the biggest opportunity that happened too soon, having to work with a production house like AVM, a story that has a point always from Shekar Kammula and the launch movie of Ramanaidu's grandson.
The actress is comfortable with the south Indian languages, her mother is from Chennai, her father is a half-Telugu and half-Maharashtrian. Despite having a complete commercial film Rama Rama Krishna Krishna in her kitty she still gushes over her role as Ratna Prabha in Leader .
Priya says she idolises Sridevi, Brahmanandam and grew up watching their movies. “None in my family are remotely related to movie people. My connection with films was just as an audience sometime back, I love my job completely and wouldn't want to do anything else in the world. Her ideal man she opines should be hard working, close to the family, should have a passion for his work whatever it may be. Never one to take herself too seriously or too lightly, Priya's philosophy is simple, “having a fun, positive attitude is what is most important to me and the rest will just follow.” The cute lass has what it takes to make a mark – that if she hasn't made one already.
